On June 16th, 2017, Rising Hope Foundation for Change (RHFC) in partnership with Health and Beauty for All (HB4A) made an official visit to the Root for Kids Orphanage at Bokova in Buea. Members of both foundations arrived at the premises of the orphanage at 3: pm and were received at the main gate and ushered in by Mr. Eyam Moses together with some workers at the orphanage.
The visit started with an introduction from Miss Berenice of HB4A and Miss Dorcas of RHFC. They voiced the purpose of the visit to the general assembly that comprised of the Orphans, the Caregivers and the members of both foundations; this was followed by a welcome speech from Mr. Eyam Moses. In his speech, he introduced himself as the father of the home and mentioned that nobody is an orphan in the building because they are one family. He encouraged every one not to address the children as orphans. He went further to talk about the success in assisting some of the children attain University level education and others into vocational training Schools. He cited a good example of one of his successful son’s in the orphanage who is working and also preparing to tie the knots. He also made mention of the challenges faced in the orphanage especially when it comes to feeding and managing the health of the children. The struggle he noted stems from the fact that the children are many in number and comprise of ages ranging from few months to 17 years old. However, he noted that irrespective of the challenges faced, they are always pleased to take care and serve as biological parents to these children. He concluded by appreciating the members of the foundations and encouraged them to keep up with the good work.
The event went further with the presentation and handover of the items that were taken to the orphanage by the Foundations. These items included bags of rice, cartons of beverages, toiletries and a First Aid box containing some medications. This was followed by a word of encouragement from Miss Berenice of HB4A to the guardians of the orphans and a word of advice to the Orphans. Thereafter, Miss Dorcas of RHFC led in prayers to end the event, a daughter of the home then took over the lead of the prayers asking the Almighty God to guide all the members back home and to bless them in everything they do so they can keep on helping the less privileged. Prayers was followed by singing and dancing with all participants, pictures were taken and a birthday song was sung for the CEO of RHFC Mr Mbenja Clovert whose anniversary was on the 17 June but could not make it at the event due to unforeseen circumstances. Finally, the foundation members were ushered to the main gate by both the Orphans and their guardians, departure was at 6: pm and this marked the end of the event.
