The visit which was slated to start at 1pm started at about 2.30pm due to some factors beyond our control. We were received by the Matron of the orphanage, Mami Mary as she is fondly called by the children. We were ushered to the reception hall by the kids who helped us to carry the numerous gifts the team brought for them.
At the hall, we had a short prayer from sister Butame from RHFC, we had a welcome song from the children, followed by self-introduction of those present at the hall. We also gave them a brief history of our partner Dare2Care International and how we became partners. The main issue of the day came up, the handing of the Educational Empowerment Grant to Ntoko Clive, this issue was not attended to because the matron of the house refused because of some misunderstanding.
The second issue was the handing of the shoes that grows, the various children took their respective sizes and they were really happy and through the images and videos we had they expressed their happiness to Dare2Care.
The team also gave them foodstuff, dresses and soft drinks and had a great time as they drank and ate together. We were also offered a meal at the end of the day by the matron of the house.
We took group pictures and promised to come back for the empowerment grants after we would have gotten a compromise.
